Laser Therapy FAQ

Laser Therapy TreatmentHow does laser therapy work?
Laser light interacts with tissue causing phytochemical reactions to occur, stimulating natural biological healing processes.

Do therapeutic lasers burn?
No.  There are two general types of medical lasers:
Heat Generating Lasers which cut through tissue; and
Cold Lasers such as the Theralase® system used in laser therapy, which stimulate tissue repair and reduce inflammation
Are therapeutic lasers harmful?
No. The Theralase® laser used for tissue stimulation is not strong enough to damage cells; so even if they were used 24 hours a day, they would not be able to harm you.

How long does laser therapy take?
Treatment time is 15 minutes per area treated.  The total number of treatments varies between 5 and 25 depending on the body’s natural healing rate and the severity of the condition.
